“The intervention was aimed at improving the hydraulic officiosity conditions of the Jesce Canal, located in the countryside of Altamura. The canal in question also serves as a hydraulic carrier of water treated by the Altamura sewage treatment plant and of stormwater afferent to the catchment area of the conterminous areas. The intervention consisted of cleaning and mowing about 8,500 m of the torrential shaft, while about 3,625 m of the channel was reseeded to improve runoff capacity.
The stretches of canal undergoing the intervention are developed entirely in the Altamura countryside. Since the planning stages of the intervention, therefore, attention has been particularly directed at mitigating interference with environmental components and reducing the landscape impact of the works.
Since the interventions implemented, although geared toward offsetting in the short -medium term, could certainly not have ensured a total zero impact related to greenhouse gas emissions, and in particular CO2, the company proposed and implemented a CO2 offset plan (https://www.reteclima.it/aziende/giovanni-putignano-figli/)”
