“The project involved the construction of the gravity sewer system (about 32.55 km) in the villages of Pulaj, Velipoja and Res Pulaj and the associated sewage treatment plant (of the maximum capacity of 33,750 A.E:).
The area served by the sewerage system has a strong tourist vocation. This results in a highly variable inlet load to the sewage treatment plant throughout the year (low flow rates in the winter period, high flow rates in the summer period). To cope with this situation, Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) technology was adopted, which is characterized by treatment tanks in which denitrification, oxidation and sedimentation take place at successive times. The system automatically adjusts the duration of individual phases to suit the incoming load.
As part of the contract, the company managed the plant for 9 months, thus providing an additional 10 months of supervision to the management by the customer.”
