“The intervention involved the upgrading and expansion of the sewage treatment plant serving the city of Trani. The capacity of the upgraded sewage treatment plant before the work was carried out was 53,241 Population Equivalents. With the project intervention, the potential was increased to 83,667 Population Equivalents. The daily design flow rate is 12,717 m3/d. The design input load is 5,020 kg BOD5/g. The type of treatment adopted is activated sludge treatment with a biomass stirred bed reactor (MBBR).”
